What's your favourite genre of music?
I'm a big fan of indie and rock, it's hard to choose a single favourite band, it would either be The Beatles or Radiohead.
When you're not at Epsom Hospital Radio, what are you doing?
During the day and sometimes the night, I'm an engineer for the BBC, I spend most of my time in the newsroom, running into their TV studios and galleries restarting the KVMs (anyone who works there knows...), and fixing responding to faults and other issues. I am also a keen photographer, and enjoy going for walks, mainly in the Surrey Hills. I recently bought a paddleboard, so you might even find me on a river trying not to fall in!
If you had £1,000,000 to spend on yourself and no-one else what would you spend it on?
Going by house prices in Epsom, I'd just about scrape together the 10% deposit for a one bed flat!
With the house idea blown, I'd say travel the world!
What is your ideal holiday destination?
I have certainly been hit by the travel bug recently, my next trip is already booked to South Africa, I'd also like to go to Peru and a friend of mine has recently gone to Cambodia, I'm hearing that it is pretty great there!
What is your favourite film?
I like either comedies or action movies, things like the Bourne Trilogy, Naked Gun, Aeroplane, In The Loop and the Bond movies, I'm also obliged to say that "Tomorrow Never Dies is the greatest movie ever made" it's not, it's good, but it's not, but it's become something of a catch phrase among me and a couple of my friends. Further to that, I should add Short Circuit 2... I have a tough time persuading friends to watch adequate movies!
What is your favourite TV programme?
I love a sitcom, my highlights there would be Yes Minister/Prime Minister, The Thick Of It, Father Ted, Alan Partridge and the IT Crowd.
Who is your favourite comedian?
I think Frankie Boyle, Jimmy Carr and Milton Jones are really funny.
Who is your favourite sports team/star?
AFC Wimbledon, though I'm a bad fan, shift working makes it hard to follow!
What is your favourite drink?
Non Alcoholic - Either a flat white coffee, or San Pellegrino Lemon and Mint. also, you can't beat a good cup of tea. I quite enjoy red wine. Also partial to the odd pint of Guinness.
What is your favourite food?
I went to Japan recently, I ate amazing food there, and unusually for me on holiday, didn't put on any weight! I also love Italian food and I enjoy slow roasting meats, particularly beef in a red wine sauce I make (don't worry, I have a fixed rate energy tariff).
What inspires you?
The beauty of the planet and the people that we share it with, all pretty amazing really!
Middle name?
Stuart
Star sign?
Scorpio
Weird & wonderful talents?
I can take a brilliant joke and ruin it!
Most treasured belongings?
My camera, photos and my music collection.
Favourite smell?
The countryside! I love the smell of fresh air on my hikes!
What was the Number 1 single on the day you were born?
It's My Party - Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin.
What record drives you mad when you hear it?
Does the 'Go Compare' advert count? No? Well, I know she did it for charidy mate, but Sophie Ellis Bextor's cover of Rebellion (Lies) originally by the Arcade Fire. The original is up there with my favourite songs ever, but Sophie ruined it, slaughtered it, absolutely destroyed it beyond all comprehension. The first time I heard it, I cringed and every time subsequently I want to throw up it's that bad! Is that a little harsh? Nope, the webmaster says that’s fine!
What is your favourite album?
Very tough question, I recently compiled my top ten albums of all time that I own, these are (alphabetical by artist excluding "the"):
- Arcade Fire - Funeral
- The Beatles - Abbey Road
- Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go
- Muse - Origin Of Symmetry
- My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
- Nirvana - Nevermind
- Oasis - Definitely Maybe
- Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
- Radiohead - In Rainbows
- The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Have you met anyone famous and if so, under what circumstances?
Loads and loads and loads, a part of my last job was to look after some little contribution studios in the BBC's Wogan House (or Western House as it was known then!) in Central London, all the celebs come in there to promote various books, DVDs, CDs and so on. Naming names, my personal highlights are Kylie Minogue, Sir Roger Moore, Sir Stirling Moss, Billy Ocean, and very briefly Paul McCartney, though his entourage got in the way of speaking to him, oh and Brian Johnson (AC/DC) who was chuffed that Chris Evans let him borrow a Ferrari he was thinking of buying a similar model of, hopefully one day Chris will let me drive his Ferraris too, though I'd probably have to get a job at Virgin Radio for that!
Who is your favourite radio presenter?
Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie.
Apart from your current partner, who would be your ideal dinner date and why?
Having recently listen to "A Brief History Of The Apocalypse" by Frankie Boyle, I'd probably say him, from the book, he appears to have a very good knowledge of restaurants in West London!
If you were marooned on a desert island, what would be the items you'd need most?
My digital SLR camera, a digital photo frame, and some magic solar powered power source to charge the batteries for the camera and run the photo frame. Might as well have an MP3 player in there too!
