Questions and Answers:

What's your favourite genre of music?
Rock and Indie if I had to choose, but I grew up around a family with eclectic music tastes, so I’m happy to genre hop.

When you're not at Epsom Hospital Radio, what are you doing?
My day job is as a Marketing & Communications Director for a sports company. My spare time I’m with my wife and daughter in Ewell, going on adventures with our dog Finley. Outside of that I love going to the cinema, watching AFC Wimbledon, playing the odd video game or visiting a theme park.

If you had £1,000,000 to spend on yourself and no-one else what would you spend it on?
I’d love my own home office/gym. One of the fancy types at the end of the garden. Could stick a studio in there too while we’re at it. I’d use some to start my own business, or to ensure myself and my wife could work less to spend time together as a family. Anything left would go on some adventures to places in the world I’ve always wanted to go (see below!).

What is your ideal holiday destination?
I’ve never visited Canada, Mexico, or New Zealand and would love to one day. I’d like to return to Japan, Thailand, and California with my family as I went years ago before I met my wife and would like to share that experience with them.

What is your favourite film?
Growing up it was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version). My sister and I could quote along with the actors for many of the scenes as we watched it so many times. In recent times I’m a sucker for a superhero movie, and also loved films such as Arrival, Silver Linings Playbook, and Inception. Classic film would be 12 Angry Men, a work of genius.

What is your favourite TV programme?
I was hooked on Succession & Mad Men, but now they have finished there’s nothing quite in that league. I think Hacks is brilliant, and enjoy Severance and Fallout as an escape.

Who is your favourite comedian?
David Mitchell, is he a comedian? Let’s say him. I also like a lot of Tina Fey’s stuff.

Who is your favourite sports team/star?
I’m a big AFC Wimbledon fan. I helped out when the team was reinventing itself around 2002, then worked there for 5 years, so I feel very attached to them. I grew up watching Robbie Earle and Vinnie Jones in the Dons midfield, so they were my idols growing up.

What is your favourite drink?
I’m incredibly boring here, but Diet Coke or a nice cup of tea. I have ADHD which makes me sensitive to caffeine, so I always try to have the decaf versions.

What is your favourite food?
As a treat I love a nicely cooked rack of ribs smothered in barbecue sauce.

What inspires you?
I guess the need to impress people? I like to try and be original and different and give people something they’ve not seen many times before. When it comes to the radio I grew up loving the shows where it felt like they were breaking the mould, and you didn’t know what would happen next. I hope if somebody stumbles across my show on a Tuesday evening they get the same feeling.

Middle name?
Thomas.

Star  sign?
Scorpio.

Weird & wonderful talents?
Not sure this is a talent, but I was once an example picture on the side of a photo booth.

Most treasured belongings?
My dad left me the watch he adored when he passed away in 2022, so I treasure that dearly.

Favourite smell?
Freshly baked bread? My baby's head? Teen spirit? Maybe my sense of smell isn’t that great thinking about it.

What was the Number 1 single on the day you were born?
The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush. I think it was number one for a while as half the kids in my class at school had the same one.

What record drives you mad when you hear it?
Take It to the Limit by the Eagles. Don’t mind their other stuff, it’s just so repetitive and uninspired. Feels like the chorus loops endlessly.

What is your favourite album?
Word Gets Around by Stereophonics. I’m not saying it’s the best ever, although it is great, but it’s my favourite because it reminds me of great memories and adventures. Instantly puts me in a good mood.

Have you met anyone famous and if so, under what circumstances?
I get to work with the odd famous person for my day job, usually to arrange media interviews or to help them prepare for a run. Those include the likes of Jessica Ennis-Hill, Trevor Nelson, Harry Judd (from McFly).

Who is your favourite radio presenter?
It’s certainly changed over the years. Chris Evans, Matt Chorley and Simon Mayo are brilliant at what they do every day. I think James Richardson is a fantastic podcast host. I guess the correct answer is my mentor Phil Watson (Sundays 10-12 on Epsom Hospital Radio).

Apart from your current partner, who would be your ideal dinner date and why?
I’d love to have a Nando’s with Barack Obama. Hear the inside story of what it’s like to be President, and get his thoughts on the world at the moment. I’d cover the costs of the refillable sodas.

If you were marooned on a desert island, what would be the items you'd need most?
On a practical note I’d need a baseball cap or suntan lotion as I burn horrendously. A notepad and pen to keep me busy writing or doodling. Then most importantly, a lovely pillow to catch up on some sleep. Rescue me in your own time.
